When to apply for a residence permit

1. Entered with a student visa

• Usually valid for 1 year.
• Apply for your residence permit before it expires (ideally 2–3 months early).

2. Entered without a student visa (non-EU citizens)

• Citizens of Australia, Canada, Israel, Japan, New Zealand, South Korea, the UK, and the USA can enter visa-free.
• You must apply for a residence permit within 90 days of arrival.

EU/EEA and Swiss citizens do not need a visa or residence permit.
